What to Expect on Your 16 Day Morocco Grand Tour ?
This 16 day Morocco grand tour takes you from the north to the south of Morocco, visiting imperial cities like Casablanca, Rabat, Fes, Marrakech, coastal Essaouira, Atlas Mountains, and iconic Sahara desert landscapes.
DAY 1: AIRPORT MED5 / CASABLANCA / RABAT
- Arrival at Casablanca airport. Welcome by our English speaking driver and departure for the visit of the Hassan II Mosque (interior and exterior). After lunch, panoramic visit of the economic capital: United Nations Square, Mohammed V Boulevard, the residential district of Anfa, and the Ain Diab corniche.Dinner and accommodation.
DAY 2: CASABLANCA / RABAT
- Breakfast and departure for a guided historical visit of Rabat, capital of the Kingdom. Walk on the esplanade of the Royal Palace (Dar el-Makhzen) and its monumental gates, followed by a visit to the Hassan Tower and the prestigious Mohammed V Mausoleum. This marble masterpiece is considered one of the most beautiful burial sites in the world. Discovery of the Mechouar ramparts, the Kasbah garden, and the Kasbah of the Udayas.Dinner and accommodation.
DAY 3: RABAT / ASILAH / TANGIER
- Breakfast and departure for Tangier via the charming town of Asilah. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch followed by a pleasant stroll through the Portuguese Fortress of Asilah before continuing to Tangier, the beautiful and captivating city located in the northernmost part of the Kingdom of Morocco. Ideally situated on the Strait of Gibraltar, just across from Spain, Tangier boasts a truly exceptional geographical location. Continue to Cape Spartel, the spectacular point where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea. Afterwards, drive along the Mediterranean coastline to the heart of Tangier. Dinner and overnight accommodation.
DAY 4: TANGIER / TETOUAN / CHEFCHAOUEN
- Breakfast and panoramic visit of Tangier, a city at the crossroads of civilizations. Next, head to Tetouan to discover its Hispano-Moorish architecture. At the end of the day, departure for Chefchaouen, the "Blue Pearl" of the Rif. Dinner and accommodation.
DAY 5: CHEFCHAOUEN / FES
- Breakfast and enjoy a free morning to explore the enchanting medina of Chefchaouen, famously known as the Blue City. Nestled at the foot of the Rif Mountains, this picturesque town will captivate you with its narrow blue-painted streets, authentic atmosphere, and remarkable beauty. Around 12:00 p.m., depart for Fes, the Spiritual Capital of Morocco and the country's oldest imperial city. The journey continues through the scenic landscapes of the Rif Mountains before arriving in Fes. Dinner and overnight accommodation.
DAY 6: GUIDED TOUR OF FES
- Breakfast and historical guided tour dedicated to the spiritual capital of Morocco. Exploration of the Fes el-Bali medina (UNESCO World Heritage site), visit to the Bou Inania Madrasa, the Nejjarine fountain, and the impressive traditional tanneries. Immersion in the artisanal souks. Dinner and accommodation.
DAY 7: FES / VOLUBILIS / MEKNÈS / MOULAY IDRISS / FES
- Breakfast followed by departure for the impressive Roman ruins of Volubilis, an exceptional archaeological site located at the foot of Mount Zerhoun and home to remarkably well-preserved Roman remains.Continue to the sacred town of Moulay Idriss, where you will admire a magnificent panoramic view of one of Morocco’s most important pilgrimage destinations.Lunch will be served in Meknes, known as the “Ismaili Capital of Morocco.” Enjoy a guided historical panoramic tour of this remarkable imperial city, including Bab Lakhmis, the richly decorated 17th-century monumental gate, and Bab Mansour, Meknes’ most impressive gateway, considered one of the world’s most beautiful gates and one of the finest in North Africa. The visit continues to the Royal Granaries and Stables of Moulay Ismail at Heri Es-Souani, built during the reign of Sultan Moulay Ismail in the 18th century, followed by the Agdal Basin and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail.At the end of the visit, return to Fes. Dinner and overnight accommodation. *Visits to certain monuments are subject to the completion of ongoing restoration work.
DAY 8: FES / IFRANE / MIDELT / MERZOUGA
- Breakfast and departure for the south. Passage through Ifrane, nicknamed "Moroccan Switzerland," and crossing the Middle Atlas through its cedar forests inhabited by Barbary macaques. Continuation via Midelt and the Ziz Valley. Arrival at the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga. Camel trek to admire the sunset. Dinner and night in a luxury bivouac.
DAY 9: LUXURY BIVOUAC / MERZOUGA
- After enjoying the breathtaking sunrise over the golden dunes, breakfast will be served before departing on an exciting 4x4 excursion through the spectacular Erg Chebbi Desert. Some of these majestic dunes rise to more than 150 metres, offering unforgettable panoramic views.Continue to the traditional village of Khamlia, where you will experience the unique rhythms of authentic Gnawa music, an important part of Morocco's rich cultural heritage. The excursion then continues through the village of Merzouga and the oasis of Hassilabied, renowned for its ancient irrigation system and lush palm groves.Return to your desert lodge for lunch and enjoy free time to relax in this extraordinary setting. Your accommodation is ideally located at the foot of the magnificent sand dunes, where you can unwind by the swimming pool, climb the dunes, or simply soak in the peaceful atmosphere of the Sahara.In the late afternoon, meet your camel guides for an unforgettable camel trek across the golden dunes. Pause atop the dunes to admire one of the most spectacular sunsets in the Sahara before riding back to your desert camp or lodge for dinner and an overnight stay beneath the magical desert sky.
DAY 10: MERZOUGA / TODRA GORGES / BOUMALNE DADES
- Early wake-up to witness the sunrise over the dunes. Breakfast and departure for the Todra Gorges and their immense limestone walls. Route to the Dades Valley to admire the singular rock formations called "monkey fingers." Dinner and accommodation in Boumalne Dades.
DAY 11: BOUMALNE DADES / OUARZAZATE / MARRAKECH
- Breakfast and departure for Ouarzazate, the "Gateway to the Desert." Visit to the Kasbah of Taourirt and the film studios. Continuation to the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou (UNESCO). Crossing the High Atlas via the Tizi n'Tichka pass (2,260 m). Arrival in Marrakech. Dinner and accommodation.
DAY 12: GUIDED TOUR OF MARRAKECH
- Breakfast and guided tour of the essentials: the Majorelle Garden, the Bahia Palace, and the medina. Discovery of the Ben Youssef Madrasa and the vibrant Jemaa el-Fna square. Dinner and accommodation.
DAY 13: MARRAKECH / ESSAOUIRA
- Breakfast and departure for Essaouira. On the way, visit an argan oil cooperative run by local women. Upon arrival, visit the medina (UNESCO), the fishing port, and the ramparts of the former Mogador. Dinner and accommodation.
DAY 14: ESSAOUIRA (FREE DAY)
- Breakfast and free day to relax by the sea or stroll through the city's alleys. Dinner and accommodation.
DAY 15: ESSAOUIRA / SAFI / OUALIDIA / EL JADIDA / CASABLANCA
- One day before the end of the greatest tour of your life! Lunch on the way. Continuation to El Jadida, also called Mazagan, a fortified city built by the Portuguese in the early 16th century. Continuation to Casablanca for dinner and accommodation.
DAY 16: CASABLANCA / AIRPORT
- Breakfast and departure for your transfer to Casablanca airport for a safe flight.
